About the Mentor Training
You are here because you have chosen to take on one of the most important roles one can provide to a youth — that of a trusted friend and confidant. Perhaps you had a mentor in your own life, or maybe you just know the power that a supportive person can play in a younger person’s life. Either way, thank you for taking on this very important role.
It may, however, not be as easy as you expect. To help you do the best you can do in your new role as a Big, we have selected some lessons that we have learned through research on cross-age peer mentoring, and we want to share them with you. At this site, you will be walked through nine lessons. Some are interactive, while others are simply thought provoking or reflect important findings we think you need to be aware of.
On each page you will read text, and at the end of the page you will have one sample question to test your comprehension. This sample question is similar to the questions you will encounter on the last page of the site. There you will be asked to answer 24 questions based on these nine pages.
